Hip-hop artist and actor Common and his Common Ground Foundation, in collaboration with the Kaiser Family Foundation and MTV, with support from Youth Speaks, announced today that 18-year old recent high school graduate, Jose Rivera from Ewing, Nebraska, was the winner of the A Minute lyrics contest to encourage young people to get tested for HIV.  Read more...

STI AWARENESS PROGRAM REDUCES REINFECTION RATE FOR BLACK, MEXICAN-AMERICAN TEENAGE GIRLS, STUDY FINDS
  The Sexual Awareness for Everyone program, which seeks to raise sexually transmitted infection awareness and prevent risky sexual behavior in women, has shown success in reducing STI reinfection rates in a group of high-risk minority teenage girls, according to a study published in the June issue of the journal Obstetrics and Gynecology.  Read more...

DECLINE IN TEEN SEX, INCREASE IN CONDOM USE LEVEL OFF, CDC STUDY SAYS 
A 10-year decline in the percentage of teenagers having sex leveled off between 2001 and 2007, while an increase in condom use among sexually active teens leveled off in 2003, according to a CDC study released Wednesday.  Read more...

The teen pregnancy rate dropped 38% from 1990 to 2004, the abortion rate decreased by 50%, and the overall birth rate decreased by more than one-third in the same time period, the report found.

Seventy-six House lawmakers, including 75 Democrats and Republican Rep.
