Kirsten Townley, Pueblo's adolescent pregnancy
prevention coordinator, on her outstanding work.
Aguilera has also challenged the board of health to
increase support to prevent teen pregnancy in

4/13/07: CDC Recommends New Treatments for Gonorrhea
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
changed the recommendations for treating gonorrhea,
a common sexually transmitted disease, because the
bacterial infection has become increasingly
resistant to the antibiotics currently used to treat
it. Following the new CDC guidelines, the Colorado
Department of Public Health and Environment and the
Denver Public Health Department now recommend that
gonorrhea be treated with ceftriaxone.

INEFFECTIVE, STUDY FINDS Mathematica Policy
Research, Inc. released the Final Report on their
study, Impacts of Four Title V, Section 510
Abstinence Education Programs. The study
followed 2000 children from elementary and middle
school into high school to determine what impact, if
any, abstinence-only sex education had on their
behavior.
