Support Youth Serving Organizations and Local Communities

bullet Train and build capacity to select, implement and evaluate prevention programs
bullet Facilitate community meetings to discuss and identify ways to proactively address preventing teen pregnancy and HIV/STD, and supporting teen parents
bullet Support local Colorado communities and organizations in their efforts to raise awareness about teen health issues in their region

Enhance Understanding & Use of Science-Based Approaches to Prevention

bullet Provide intensive technical assistance with youth serving organizations to increase their capacity to use logic models, planning and evaluation, and fundraising efforts to support science-based programs for teen pregnancy prevention
bullet Provide online tools and offer statewide training on components of science-based approaches, programs that work, and promising programs
bullet Serve as a link to and networking partner with national trainers on science-based approaches and science-based programs

Disseminate Research and Data on Teen Sexual Health

bullet Share current research and data related to teen sexual health
bullet Provide yearly updates on pregnancy and STD rates among populations of Colorado teens

Advocate for Teens, Parenting Teens, and Their Families

bullet Support parents of teens by providing resources about talking to teens about sex
bullet Support teens by informing them of their rights and responsibilities related to their sexual health and well-being
bullet Support parenting teens by linking them to support services in their area
bullet Advance policies and programs that support the healthy development of parenting teens and their children

CURRENT COMMUNITY PROJECTS

Promoting Science-Based Approaches
The intent of this project is to pair COAPPP with local youth serving organizations to increase support and capacity for integrating scientifically proven approaches to planning, implementing, and evaluating programs shown to work in the prevention of pregnancy and HIV/STDs and in the healthy sexual development of teens.

AMOR y Futuro
COAPPP is partnering with a community group representing community organizations, faith-based groups, and individuals with the following goals:

bullet To be a source of education for parents, teens and policy makers on comprehensive, effective, culturally relevant, evidence-based ways to prevent teen pregnancy and HIV/STDs among Latino teens
bullet To promote the empowerment of Latino youth in all aspects of their lives
bullet To create a forum that is community-centered and respects community and youth values
